FROM THE CURRENT UNITY BUILD

Every road is
a decision.

Three places, different possibilities: a base in Butzbach, Frankfurt’s skyline and airport, and Hamburg harbour. These bounded development demos were captured on 30 October 2026. Captures of newer work, such as the place search, map task highlights and street-level detail, are added here once they have been taken in Unity.

YOUR NEXT LOAD. YOUR NEXT DECISION.

Build a network.
Find your rhythm.

  1. 01

    Establish a base

Begin with a small region, a depot and a budget. Put your first vehicles to work.

  2. 02

    Connect the chain

Move grain to a factory and food to a market. Share vehicle capacity between repeating routes and parallel missions.

  3. 03

    Reinvest with purpose

Earn money and research points, develop facilities, build rail and gateway links, and purchase adjacent land. Endless play leaves the next move to you.

WHAT IS IN THE GAME TODAY

Features, labelled
by their real state.

Every item carries the status it has in the current development candidate. “Awaiting live verification” means the code and tests exist, but the feature has not yet been proven in a real Steam session or on dedicated hardware.

  • Implemented · private preview

    Start anywhere in Germany

Search 46,096 German cities, towns, villages and postcodes, then move a start square of up to 3 × 3 km on a small map. A build service compiles that area from OpenStreetMap on demand (a Butzbach test pack was ready in about 20 seconds), and the game verifies it, caches it and pins it in your saves. The service runs as a private preview and is not yet publicly reachable; country-wide map coverage is still being completed.

  • Implemented

    Road logistics

Vans and trucks on mapped roads with traffic queues and signals. Persistent grain-to-food supply routes with finite stock, parallel missions and purchasable neighbouring land.

  • Implemented

    Research

Research unlocks capabilities and visible depot upgrades instead of raw stat boosts. Two-column research cards stay readable from 16:9 to 32:9.

  • Implemented · awaiting live verification

    Rail, air and sea corridors

Place terminals and track, run trains and hand cargo over truck–rail–truck. Licensed air and sea corridors carry cargo from the mapped airport and harbour to destinations beyond your map. Rail automation and gateway managers are researched, not given.

  • Implemented · in-game review pending

    Manual tasks on the map

Loading, unloading, refuelling, cleaning and rail or gateway handling start as hands-on work until researched managers take over planning. Anything waiting for you shows as a lime ring on the map and a chip in the task strip; one click, or Tab, opens the exact control. A physical workforce with breaks and recovery facilities is in development.

  • Implemented · in-game review pending

    Street-level detail

Close to the camera, buildings gain window frames, doors, shopfronts with awnings, balconies, chimneys and dormers, and streets gain lamps, signs, parked cars, benches and hedges. Vehicles, depots and production sites switch between near and far models by distance, so wide city views keep their current geometry. Captures and frame-time measurements in Unity are pending.

  • Implemented

    Ultrawide and UHD layout

Full-width world view with a compact HUD held inside a centred 16:9 span. Graphically reviewed at six resolutions from 3840×1080 to 5120×2160 on 30 October 2026; hardware performance qualification continues.

  • Implemented · awaiting live verification

    Online co-op

Separate companies in one shared region through friends-only Steam lobbies with host-owned time and saves. A real two-account session on separate networks is still outstanding.

  • Private · unreleased

    Steam Playtest

A Windows build is uploaded to a private Steam Playtest. It is not playable by the public, no keys have been issued, and the main store page is unreleased.

  • Implemented · private preview

    Companion dashboard

A browser dashboard for phone or desktop: funds, fleet, routes, research, operations and a schematic map, updated live as the company changes. Pair it by scanning a QR code in the game; access starts read-only. Optional away progression runs at reduced speed and stops at an operating reserve you set. Private preview for one test region; running the company from your phone while the PC is off awaits live verification.

  • Implemented · in-game review pending

    Original soundtrack and world sound

Three relaxed instrumental pieces with gentle crossfades, interface cues that confirm only accepted actions, depot sounds, and zoom-aware engine and road sound that never multiplies at 2× or 4×. Separate master, music, world, effects and interface levels are saved locally. All original synthesis with no third-party samples; the listening review in the native game is pending.

STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS · AWAITING LIVE VERIFICATION

Milestones worth
taking a detour for.

Twelve optional goals celebrate what you build: your first delivery, a functioning supply chain, new research and a growing region. Evidence tracking and the Steam adapter are implemented; the first real unlock on Steam is still outstanding. No daily login streaks.

DEVELOPMENT, IN THE OPEN

Here today.
Where we’re heading.

ecotrasim is still in development. These screenshots show the native game; the lists below separate what the current candidate contains from the work that remains.

IN THE CURRENT CANDIDATE

The network starts here.

  • Start in a searched German city or postcode with region packs built on demand (private preview service)
  • Road vehicles, fleet markers, traffic signals and persistent grain → food routes
  • Research, evolving depot facilities and vehicle retirement
  • Manual tasks highlighted on the map with a task strip; near-detail vehicles, facilities, buildings and street scenery
  • Player-built rail and air/sea gateway corridors (awaiting live verification)
  • Original soundtrack, world sound and mixer; ultrawide HUD layout reviewed at six resolutions
  • Companion dashboard with live updates, QR pairing and away progression (private preview)
  • Private Windows Steam Playtest upload with verified depot integrity

NEXT / STILL TO VERIFY

More ways to connect.

  • Public access to place search and pack builds, with map data for all of Germany
  • Unity captures and frame-time measurements for task highlights and street-level detail; soundtrack listening review
  • Online Steam co-op: implemented; live multiplayer verification remains
  • Phone control while the PC is off: live end-to-end verification on the persistent service
  • First real Steam achievement unlock, then all twelve
  • Physical workforce with breaks, sleep and recovery facilities
  • Last-mile hubs, further goods and production chains

Native macOS and Windows x64 development builds compile and pass the automated review. The Windows build is uploaded to a private Steam Playtest; Windows hardware play, Linux and Steam Deck remain unverified. No release date or price has been announced.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

A few good questions.

Can I play ecotrasim now?

Not yet. A Windows build exists in a private Steam Playtest that is not open to the public and has issued no keys. There is no public download. This page shows actual development captures and the planned direction.

Is the map based on real places?

Yes. Every start area is built from OpenStreetMap geometry: the bundled Butzbach, Frankfurt city, Frankfurt airport and Hamburg harbour demos as well as areas compiled on demand. Freight sites and company names are fictional, and imported business names are never shown. ecotrasim is a game, not a navigation tool.

Can I play in my own town?

Germany comes first. In the game you search for a city, town, village or postcode, adjust a start square of up to 3 × 3 km, and a build service compiles that area on demand from OpenStreetMap data: roads, buildings, water and land use, with fictional freight sites on connected roads. The pack is verified and cached on your PC, and your saves pin its version, so later map updates never change an existing company. The build service currently runs as a private preview and is not yet publicly reachable; Butzbach, Frankfurt and Hamburg are bundled with the development build. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).

Are rail, air and sea transport playable?

Player-built rail and finite air and sea gateway corridors are implemented in the current candidate with tests, but they have not been proven in a live Steam session yet. The gallery captures predate them and show airport and harbour scenery only.

How do I know what needs my attention?

Tasks that need a manual action, such as a van to refuel, cargo to load, a rail or gateway shipment to handle, a mission close to its deadline or an unpaid manager, appear as lime rings on the map and as chips in a task strip. Clicking either selects the target and opens the exact control; Tab cycles through them. The highlights are implemented; their review in the running game is pending.

Will there be online multiplayer?

Online co-op is implemented around separate companies in a shared region. Steam invitations, synchronized play and reconnecting still need a real two-account test on separate networks before a public playtest.

Can my company keep running while I’m away?

Optionally. With away progression switched on, the persistent service keeps your company running at reduced speed (10% of normal by default, at most eight hours per absence) and stops before cash falls below an operating reserve you choose. A browser companion paired by QR code shows funds, fleet, routes and research with live updates; with manage access it can pause routes, start research and authorize facility tasks. This runs on a private preview service for one test region, and using it from your phone while the PC is off has not been verified live yet.

Does the game have music?

Yes: three original, relaxed instrumental pieces that crossfade without repeating back to back, plus restrained interface, depot and engine sounds that follow the camera’s zoom. Music, world, effects and interface volumes are adjustable and saved. Everything was synthesized for ecotrasim without third-party samples; a listening review in the native game is still pending.

Does the game support ultrawide monitors?

Yes. The world view fills the screen while controls stay inside a centred 16:9 span. The layout was graphically reviewed at 3840×2160, 3440×1440, 3840×1600, 5120×2160, 3840×1080 and 5120×1440. Frame-rate qualification on dedicated hardware is separate and ongoing.

Are the artwork and screenshots the same thing?

No. The promotional illustration communicates the visual direction. Every image in the gameplay gallery is a real Unity development capture, with its interface intact. The press kit keeps the two categories separate.
